What is Veteran's Self-Discovery Support Group?

A non-professional self-help support group is available to give you a safe place to uncover the internal blocks that keep you from experiencing a full life and where you learn to apply self-affirming tools. You and other veterans who have experienced what you have and have reacted to stress in similar ways come together to share common experiences and go through a process to find inner peace.

Our group is not talk therapy. It's a facilitated peer-to-peer discussion group, specifically designed to address the emotional wounds you've endured in combat and in life. We operate independently of Veteran Affairs and recommend that you seek psychological counseling. As a private organization, Veterans Self-Discovery Support Group follows a format similar to a 12-step group, yet we are not affiliated with any particular fellowship. However, our meetings can be a beneficial supplement to AA, NA, SA, etc., if you are attending one or more of them.

The aspects of our meetings that are similar to the 12-step approach are that anonymity and confidentiality are maintained by the participants. This way, experiences that would not be shared outside the group can be freely exposed, knowing that what is said in the meeting stays in the meeting. Similarly, we don’t respond directly to what someone else says during the meeting. If you disagree with someone else's words, save any direct questions or comments until after the meeting. You are invited to try what others are applying as a solution if you want to try it. You will not be judged, criticized, or coerced if you don’t.

There is no charge for attendance at these weekly meetings. No materials are required, and you may refer to any literature you find helpful in your process. Now, sit back and relax, listen toy our story as told by someone who doesn’t know you, which makes you not only brothers in arms but also brothers in spirit.
